Wow you do have a very understanding better half, I showed my not so understanding better half and she said, If I want buckets of gravel and broken house bricks, to go to the local garden centre. Some just don't understand at all. What dose a Cabbing Grinder look like ? The Rose crystals, look like stuff they dig up not so far from home, at a place called Willcundra, on the Broken hill highway, it comes up in very large chunks, like the size of a dinner table. You must have a fare collection of rocks at home by now, like to know how you get away with it. Cheers Lab

Cheers guys. Harry I think what you are calling sapphire is more of the garnets. There are 3 containers (I think different sieve sizes) of garnet and mica. All the stones I have looked at so far have been that purple/rose colour.
Lab, I think the only reason my other half is accommodating is because I am studying geology and have showed her a few bits and pieces we have found cabbed and polished. My computer room slightly resembles a gravel bar at the moment, as I have so many rocks on the floor, but after I clean the garage out I have plans for storage and shelves. We have also started a rock garden which I can put bits and pieces till I get a chance to do something with.
A cabbing grinder is just like a bench grinder, but has a water tank and tubes to feed water to the wheels to keep them wet and the rock you are grinding cool. Besides all the bits and pieces, it is the last bit of equipment I need for now to start playing round at home.

What a striking collection Shivan. Nice photos. Rock garden sounds like a great idea. I started to put my interesting rocks around a Lilli Pilli tree that I have in a huge terra-cotta pot outside and it looks really attractive and becomes a talking piece. Looks great when wet too.
