First trip to Oallen for a couple of months. Day started not so good, got about 18km from home and almost passed out from petrol fumes. Pulled over and found the cap on my jerrycan was split and petrol was spilling everywhere. Drove back to Queanbeyan a bought a new one. Continued on to Oallen, got there about an hour later than usual and was surprised, a long weekend and there was no campers. Set up the highbanker and began throwing dirt in. Had many people stop by and have a chat, a couple of "newbie" gold prospectors, a whole family from Sydney, dad, mum and the 4 kids. He built his own HB based on the Wal Banker, the best home made unit I have ever seen, very well built. This was his first day using it, never seen 4 kids so keen. A very enjoyable day all round, did my cleanup at about 4.00pm, gold was down a bit, around 1.2g, will do a final cleanup tomorrow. The new GoldWell Vortex HB seems to be working way better than I could ever imagined. It is holding more sub 50 mesh than I have ever seen at Oallen, big draw back with it's efficiency is that it also holds ever bit of black sand as well Anyway, it was a fantastic day, wouldn't have mattered if there was no gold. Met some truly nice people.

Life is an adventure and it sounds like that is exactly what you had. Glad the HB is working great Jeff.

Glad to hear you had a good day out Jeff. I have had a Jerry can leak in the back of the car before, makes the trip painful. Glad you got it sorted. Managed to pop out for a couple of hours panning today at Uralla, gold was patchy but nice and coarse. Hopefully I will be able to make it along next time.

Good to hear the HB is working really well Jeff. It's nice to be able to set and forget and have full confidence it's hanging onto even the finest flour. Sounded like a great day out. I know where all the campers were. They came to N.E Victoria.

Hi MM. Good, you can keep the campers down there. . The Goldwell is maybe too good, if that's possible. Hanging on to even the finest black sand as well, what a headache. Ian, when do you get back?
