Mother Nature turned on an absolutely perfect day, despite a freezing start to the day, it was sunny, warm and no wind, a beautiful day in the outdoors. Took Mac and Sean out to see what highbanking is all about. Firstly, I'd like to apologize to Mac for Sean , he can be a bit over bearing at times, he gets a bit carried away. Shivan and Mark came over from Nowra and made a great intro to highbanking for Mac. Shivan bought along many of the stones he has cut and polished to show us all and WOW, fantastic, you have done an exceptional job Ian, they are very impressive. Mac had some of his stones for show and tell as well and that jar of opals was extremely impressive. Oallen has completely changed since the new bridge has gone in. The biggish flood that came through there a week ago has changed the waterflow, there is now much more sand bars than before and the direction of the flow has been altered. It's going to take a few trips out there to find the gutters. The gold we found yesterday was all very fine. As we all know, Oallen is renowned for it's fine gold, but we would always find a couple of larger flakes, there was none of that this trip. Will do a final cleanup today, if there is 0.3 gram, I'll be surprised. Mac, you are welcome to come along whenever you like, hopefully next time I'll have one of my pumps back that you can borrow. Keep in touch.
Jeff

Was great to get out for a dig and really good to meet Mac and catch up with Jeff. It was a beautiful day, even though a little chilly to start with. I picked up a rock thinking it had some crystals on it only to realize it was ice. Our day was cut a bit short as Mark jarred his wrist and i bent over and poked my eye on a bush. No damage done, but decided to call it a day before we really did something stupid. Managed a little gold and was lucky enough to be given a few beautiful bits of agate by Mac. Cant thankyou enough Mac.
Will clean the gold and try to post a few pics later this afternoon.

Hi All.
Slightly over estimated Saturdays results. Cleaned up yesterday and weighed today, a very disappointing 0.19g. Doesn't matter, all had a good day, some gold is better than none

Nice gold for high water. High banker did its job and all had a good day out sounds pretty good. Now for a scope out to guess where those new streaks will be settling once the water drops hey? Looking at my local creek - I reckon I'd be heading downstream to around..... South Australia...

Still have not cleaned the gold, every time i go to the garage i end up doing some more work to my saw and forgetting why i went out there in the first place.... Here was Mark hard at work. Jeff, Mac and Sean checking what was in the highbanker so far. And here were the beautiful agates Mac brought out for me, the photo does not do them much justice though. Will get a better one when i clean the gold.
