I want to mount a nugget on a bail and chain for my teenage daughter but Ive never done it before and instead of learning from my mistakes I thought Id ask questions here like where to get a suitable bail and what type of chain to safely hold a 2 to 3 gram nugget. Any ideas / suggestions on what type of bail to use,the ones Ive seen on ebay have a point sticking out so they can mount gemstones with them I presume? Do I cut that off or are there other types? Honestly I have no idea!

when soldering wire make sure you can't see light between the 2 surfaces, and let capillary action do the rest. When choosing your solder you have to decide whether you need soft, medium or hard. I find soft is adequate for every day jewelry, and is easy to work with. If you are soldering wire that is 1 mm thick you only need a piece of solder the size of the , on your computer keyboard If you are soldering bails and clasps that have a spring inside the heat generated by the soldering will anneal the spring and render it useless. Good luck Flying Scott
