Welcome to the group firey01.
There is plenty to read in old posts going back over ten years and lots of maps and other information in the appropriate sections of the forum.
We also have many Victorians in the group so I'm sure you will be able to learn from it all.
Starting with a couple of pans or a small river sluice is all that is needed equipment wise but mostly reading and research will help you find where to look and how to get at that beautiful gold stuff.
There is no such thing as a silly question so please don't be shy.
Cheers and Enjoy
Ric

Welcome to the forum firey01. My kids love going out camping and fossicking, so iam sure your family will love it. Iam from NSW, so cant help to much with your area, but plenty of research and planning go a long way. Depending on the age of your kids it can be handy to have a back up plan for them (fishing, swimming, etc) as they can get easily distracted.
Good luck with your adventures, look forward to hearing how you go.

hi all,
thanks for the best wishes. I have the trip planned to go to slatey campsite. I hear great things about that place. I have the miners rights already and 3 pans and a sluice that my wife and I built. so I hope we all have a fun time if the weather holds up nicely. if anyone is around there after school don't be shy to pop in for a coffee, cuppa or a beer.
