Shame about the weather but good to see you got out for a dig. How did the sluice go? Hope you did well.

It worked! I ran a bucket from a new place I was testing and told there would lots of gold there. I saw shiny stuff in the clay/sand as I was shoveling it. But must of been pyrite or mica as my panning on clean up turned up zero gold from that spot. For a moment I worried the sluice may of not worked and I was losing gold. So I ran another bucket from a place I knew had gold and turned up with quite a few specs in my pan. But I do need to do something about the water flow at the mouth. There is a tilt wooden bar that is meant to control the flow of water, great concept, but for me it was cutting my water flow in half and not all the gravel/sand on the second bucket was clearing. I adjusted the height of where the water was coming in, but nothing seemed to help much. As much as I like it, I'm thinking of removing the wooden bar. Also, thinking of cutting up some ribbed rubber matting for the metal mouth area so no metal is exposed and I'll dump classified dirt right onto the mouth.

Good to see the sluice and it is all trial and error with them.

G'day Jon You need to elevate the front of the sluice Jon as it doesn't work flush in the river I use to look for the drop in the river pile stones across the drop and set up the sluice once you have worked out how it works you won't know your self

Found my prospecting hat and put it on, got into character, and found more gold on my final clean up from Oallen Ford!

The golds mate WTG but I don't know about the hat LOL Yeah.. it's meant to be comical L ooking forward to getting a Head Net for it though to keep away those horrible horrible bush flies. They are enough to make a man go insane and were out in force going in my ears, up my nose and attacking my eyes as I was trying to pan and get gold the other day. That when I had a good amount of bushman's deet on me.

Thanks shivan! Yep that's my total from my 2 trips to Oallen Ford. Heading to try the Turon River tomorrow for the first time. Got a spot in mind I'm going to do some test pans and see what happens. Headed north for a change. Cheers!
