Wow! what a lot of fun so far. Bought some screens and a pan then headed up to see old friends in Batlow where we had a look at the old workings in Adelong. We did some panning on the upper Adelong creek. Really beautiful amongst the trees. We then headed down to Beechworth and found a few spots on Reedy Creek. The sound of the cicadas was deafening. We found some gold specks in both areas. Shivan if you can make it up to Oallen it would be great. Have a fun Christmas. Stuart

Depends when I get back from my trip to the Gold Coast, but I just may make a day trip down to Oallen Ford on the 2nd as well if I can. I'll be the one with a North American accent. Cheers!

That would be amazing. A right of mixture of Aussie, American and Scots accents.

Hi JR
Sorry we missed you. I did not have any internet so I missed your message.
We met up with Shivan and had a great afternoon chatting and panning. We were down stream of the bridge until around 16:30.
We are in Katoomba for a couple of nights and I would like to head up to Coles bridge, Hill End tomorrow. See how it goes. Any advice for Coles bridge?

No worries. I looked around but counted at least 20 people there today. Never seen it that busy. I worked both the upper and lower ends of the Bridge at Oallen Ford today. Also, worked the bedrock there for the first time and got my 2nd picker. Where you camping there down river from the bridge and had a hammock?
Coles Bridge is one of my favorite spots. Pretty much anywhere you dig near the river, you're going to find good gold. I prefer working the lower river area from the bridge. The upper is good if you have 4x4 and can cross the river. The upper is better for running highbackers.
Gold Luck tomorrow! Jon

Was great to meet up with Stuart and family. Sorry we called it short, but i think i ended up with a bit of heat stroke. Hope you managed to find a bit of gold after we left.
Where abouts were you JR? We were just down from the bridge highbanking about 100 meters from the water. I walked up to the bridge and saw 3 different lots of ppl, said g'day to most as i was looking for Stuart, started heading down the back, but bumped into Jordan who was just starting out and panning in the river and ended up chatting and taking him back to show him our cleanout.
Will have to try and organize things a little better next time.

Indeed! As I don't know what anyone drives or what anyone looks like. I was in 2 spots. I got there around 10am and went to my usual spot down river from the bridge. I did see two fellas running a high banker near me and they had their blue intake hose running across the road, which I had to drive over to get to my spot. I walked around too but wasn't sure who I was looking for and I was also checking out different spots to test pan. I ended up on the other side of the bridge up stream for the afternoon and was working the bedrock area there until around 8pm. Got some concentrate to go through, but it was a decent day. Got my 2nd picker off the bedrock. Was surprised to see that at Oallen Ford as it's usually really fine flood gold.
You guys should come up to Coles Bridge sometime, the gold is chunkier up there. Also, not as crowded.

Hi Shivan, hopefully a day at home in the shade will sort out the heat stroke. We kept finding small pieces of gold until around 16:30 then we headed up to Katoomba. We will spend the day here then tomorrow Wednesday we will try our luck at Coles Bridge.
Hi JR Head up to Coles bridge and try our luck around the bridge. I am not too sure how much I can push the rental car from Hertz. Great to hear you are finding some good gold.

Ahhh JR that was us with the hose across the road. Dont worry about the hose we expect people to drive over it. You must have been the only one i didn't talk to, saw the car but didn't walk down to the river sorry. I actually thought you were going to be where i met Jordan and was surprised when he didn't have an accent. Always next time.
Stuart, iam feeling much better today, still got a slight headache but a lot better than i was feeling yesterday. I really need to get out more.

Ah yeah.. That would be my silver car and my usual spot. But after finding my 2nd picker over on the bedrock, I've got a new place when I go to Oallen Ford. Funny you were so close to me!

Nice picker for Oallen, they are about, just seem to be few and far between. This is what we cleaned up, nothing great but not bad for the digging we did.

Not bad at all. I was actually shocked when I found the picker in my pan at Oallen Ford of all places. I've still got some bedrock concentrate to pan through today, hope I find another one!
