Hi all,
That Murphy bloke is hassling me again. Having a few beers with the wife last week and having a whinge that I haven't been out for quite a while because some mongrel stole my Honda pump and about 100m of layflat and gear some time ago and I haven't gotten around to replacing them and I was flat chat at work and didn't get much time off anyway.
My wife said "why don't you get a new detector, then all you have to do is put in some camping gear, grab your detector and your off" (I'm not even going to try and attempt to explain the logic behind that statement....but I'll take it. lol). Needless to say that I had a new GPX-4500 on order by the end of the day....and then... the next day I had to move my large trailer over the other side of my driveway. Backed it in as far as possible, unhooked and then tried to man handle it the rest of the way. I was at the side of the "A" frame and gave it a big yank to straighten it up. Well, the jockey wheel snapped off (welded to frame) and I pulled the frame on top of my legs trapping me underneath. Thanks to great neighbours who managed to lift the trailer so I could get my legs out. Red light taxi to the hospital and 4 hours later.. broken right foot, stuffed left ankle and numerous chunks out of my legs.
I'm in moon boots, have crutches and of course the obligatory infections. I can sit there and watch my new detector gather dust for at least the next 6-8 weeks.
So my question is: Was that just bad luck or is "something" getting me back for taking advantage of my wife's offer?..lol
Have a good one! Russ

Oh no that is horrible to hear. I mean great about the new detector, but you couldn't have had too much more go wrong when moving that trailer. If i would have known you were short a pump i could have loaned you our larger pump and some hose, offer stands if you ever need it. Did you check the weld for grinder marks maybe the wife was getting some payback I just think you had a bit of bad luck at a really inconvenient time. Hope your feeling better and mend up soon so you can try the new toy out.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Rusty. What an awful accident. It's always the little unforeseen things that bring us undone. Get well soon mate.

Bloody hell Russ, sorry to hear about Murphy coming to your place. How big is this trailer of yours if you needed the neighbors to get it of you. Any way mate for the next 6-8 weeks you should know the 4500 hand book backwards. Anyway mate have a speedy recovery. And keep the door locked just in case Murphy comes back. nugget893

Hi all, Thanks for the thoughts. Much appreciated. It's just bloody frustrating. I have plenty of time to do a lot of research and have a couple of places picked out for a swing when I am up and about. I even plan to be down your way Nugget893 if all goes well. I haven't been down that way since the late 90's when I had the SD2200. There are a few spots I'd like to go over again with the 4500 in the GT. I built the trailer myself for moving ore and machinery and I do have a tendency to "over" engineer things. The frame is all 100 x 50 box section with 10mm checker plate bracing plates and there was about 250kg of crushed quartz in the front of it which didn't help.
I got your message shivan. I'll be in touch.
Russ

Russ that is what I would call a trailer, mate. What do you tow it with, a tank? When you come down this way give me a call. I live in the heart of the GT. But if your towing that trailer I'll get the roads around here up graded. nugget893
