I panned this little crystal at Uralla a few months ago and am not sure what to make of it. It's black, opaque, and has six sides, although somewhat rough and flattened. It's hard and heavy. The lozenge shape might be worth noting. The inside of the broken ends are slightly rougher than the water-worn surface, perhaps indicating both ends broke after some time in the water. The image shows it from several different angles.

At a rough guess cronicbadger I'd say it was Tourmaline

6 sides cronic Tourmaline is a 6 sided crystal, that's what gives it away chip in if you think I'm wrong regards Harry

Yeah, it's looking like it's tourmaline. I don't think I've ever knowingly encountered it before at Uralla.
