Hello Crusty
The keys to having an enjoyable time out fossicking are research, patience, having a go, and enjoying the experience.
Considerations include: - equipment (what is available, what is suitable for your needs, where to use it, how to use it) - locations (accessibility, legalities) - geology (understanding how gold travels and accumulates) - techniques (sampling, testing)
Read through the forum's extensive resources to find most of what you need to know. And yes, it's best to learn from others' mistakes than from your own! :-)
