Hi all. This is my first post here. Just wondering if there are any people here on the Central Coast who have experience in prospecting? Keen to learn a bit! Cheers, Bruce.

Hi Bruce (aguyfromgosford) and welcome to the site mate. I personally do not live in the Central Coast region. But I'm sure there may be others on this site that may. Have a look around the site as there is heaps of stuff that may help you in the meantime. Good luck in your quest. Nugget893

Hello Bruce
I'm from Lake Macquarie. There is not much in the way of precious metal or gems to fossick here on the central NSW coast (aside from isolated pockets of gold in beach sands), so your best bet is to try inland. Your closest choices are the New England region to the NorthWest and the Sofala/Hill End area West.
Much of the work of fossicking is research before going out into the field. There are many resources, such as historical records from places like the Trove database, and modern such as the department of mineral resources, who provide vast amounts of information such as maps and reports from mineral surveys.
