After stalking the postie my new gold hog mats arrived today, so after a quick look at their how to video I started cutting, gluing and fitting in my highbanker. So here are some pics. UR mat profile Scrubber mat profile The long mat is how it comes, you then need to cut it to size and join, glue and tape I have 2 UR then 2 Scrubber then 3 UR as my mat order but you can mix and match to your liking as the mats interlock. Its just there drying and I will remove the tape on the top surface tomorrow. The modified highbanker its going into, and a pic of my new quanta pans Will be testing all the new goodies at Oallen ford soon ;D Cheers Skip

Hi Skip,
That scrubber mat looks the goods mate. I have had a look at the clips on their web site and they have won me.
When I get some time there will be a high banker on the way fitted with their mats.
Where do you get all your materials like expanded and ally sheet etc?
Do you fold it yourself or get someone to fold it for you?
It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison between your HB with the new mats and a standard riffle/miners moss type HB, digging out of the same hole.
Keep the pick's coming and let us know how they perform.
Cheers Mick

Backcreek I grab the ally from local sources mainly the aluminium place that does nothing but ally. The mesh is from the local steel supplier and the rest I just bolt or pop rivet and the bending I do at a mates with a 4 foot folder (but man I would love a tig welder). I choose oallen because of the fine gold and to meet up with AGP members I will try and get lots of pics to post up. Donnybrook I will be there soon around the mothers day weekend will call when its closer to going away, on a side note ratting through the shed I found a gas burner from an old pottery kiln for the foundry its 1 1/4 inside diameter I'm hoping this will be ok and not to big, just looking for a suitable round metal pipe to start or I may suck it up and cut one of the old lpg cylinders I have here after filling it with water . Cheers Skip

Any idea of distributor in Australia. I would love to get some but hesitate a bit with money transactions O/S I know Nuggets Down Under had it available for a while but no more It looks a lot like some Architectual matting I have seen used in entry foyers of some of the larger building projects (Banks, Office blocks etc) I've worked on. Like a dirt cather mat just inside the main foyer door. Cheers Ric

Just got back from the trip and all I can say is I will never go back to any other type of mat or riffle they are the ducks guts . At oallen it trapped so much fine gold and black sand It blew my mind I'm trying to do a clean up and struggling with all the black sand. At tuena I removed the Expanded mesh as it was collecting iron stone like crazy and ran just the mat on its own and the iron stone just rolled on by and left black sand and fine and chunky gold behind was great. it does take more angle and water flow but you get used to it I was cleaning out way to early as I was trying to see if gold was being left behind, and could have run half a day without even touching it. It handled the freezing temps -3 deg and even had ice stuck to it just thawed it out and good to go. Clean up is only roll mat dunk in a bucket 3 times and reverse roll in the bucket dunk another 3 times and replace to easy. To set the right flow all I did was set at about 2 inches per foot of highbanker length and looked into the ur matting to see that the particles are dancing in the vortexes and start shovelling It is a little unnerving at first but you do relax after a while with all the water flow. Cheers Skip Cheers Skip.

Hi all
Just reading above about doing a test, has anybody ran a sluice below their sluice to see how much gets through?

Not with the hog mat, but yes I regularly run another sluice in line, especially in areas like the shoalhaven. The second sluice catches roughly 5-10% but I run a monumental amount of water and am quite viscious on the feed rate.. A pan under your first sluice should catch about half what a second sluice would, as long as your tailing pile doesn't back up over the edges too much
